MANCHESTER data centre firm M247 has acquired web hosting business called UK Web Solutions Direct.

It said it had paid an “undisclosed seven-figure sum” for the company which is based in Stockton-on-Tees and rents data hosting space in London.

The vendors are Paul Ridge and Neil Wood who each held 50%.

M247, which is controlled by the Buckle family, has two data centres in Trafford Park in Manchester and operates a network across Europe from rented space in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Brussels, Paris, Prague, Budapest and Bucharest.

It also sells web hosting services and this deal has added 15,000 websites, taking its total to around 70,000.

Managing director David Buckle said: “The team at M247 are looking forward to getting to know them and are already standing by to continue providing the very highest levels of customer support that they’ve come to expect from UKWSD.

Paul Ridge said: “Having known and worked closely with the team at M247 over the past decade we’re confident that our valued customers are in the very best possible hands and can look forward to many more years of the trouble-free service they’re used to with UKWSD.”
