Emirates takes flight to airport base

DUBAI-based airline Emirates is moving its customer service centre from Wilmslow to an office park closer to Manchester Airport.

It has agreed a 10-year lease on the 23,500 sq ft Building 1,000 at Manchester Business Park in Aviator Way, which is also home to PZ Cussons, Ericsson, and Regus.

Emirates is moving around 400 staff to the Goodman-owned building from Orbit Developments’ Riverside Court in Bollin Walk, Wilmslow.

The deal will help lift south Manchester take-up following a slow first quarter which saw deals for 74,018 sq ft, down from 139,492 sq ft in the final quarter of 2013, according to the Manchester Office Agents Forum (MOAF).

Neither the airline, or its agent Mellersh and Harding, could be reached to discuss the move. CBRE, which is acting for Manchester Business Park, declined to comment.
