Appointments: Mills & Reeve; Burdale; Marsden Rawsthorn & more

NATIONAL law firm Mills & Reeve has boosted its commercial property team with the hire of Heather Leese as a solicitor in its Manchester office.

Miss Leese joins from Eversheds in the city, where she has advised on a broad range of real estate matters.

ASSET-based lender Burdale Financial, part of US financial group Wells Fargo, has appointed Oliver Reece as associate director, structured finance, in its Manchester office.

Mr Reece, who joins from Barclays, has been hired to support the continuing growth of the Burdale business. Before moving to banking, he worked in corporate finance at Deloitte.

Burdale regional director Judith McMath said: “We are delighted to expand our team. Oliver will further enhance our regional offering by adding strength and depth to the business while also adding local coverage to better serve our customers.”
 
The expansion of the team allows long-serving  Mark Metcalf, to move from a deal structuring role to lead the firm’s portfolio management operation in Manchester.

LANCASHIRE law firm Marsden Rawsthorn has strengthened its commercial property team with the appointment of solicitor Wendy Beer.

Miss Beer, from Worsley, joins from DWF, having previously worked at Cobbetts.

Debbie Pettit, chief executive at Marsden Rawsthorn said: “Wendy has a real insight into how clients work which means she has a well-rounded view of key practical issues and client needs and is able to see things from both sides of the fence in a complex business area.”
 
Marsden Rawsthorn employs 80 staff across its two offices in Preston and Chorley.

SALFORD demolition and excavation contractors, Anthony O’Connor & Sons has expanded its management team with the appointment of Stuart Barlow as health, safety and environmental manager.

Mr Barlow has previously worked for Willmott Dixon Construction and Skanska UK.

LANCASTER architecture practice Harrison Pitt has strengthened its team with the appointment of architectural technologist Charlotte Wrathall.Charlotte Wrathall

Miss Wrathall , joins the practice from Leyland-based practice Archimedia Consulting where she worked on a variety of commercial and industrial projects while studying for a BSc in Architectural Technology at the University of Central Lancashire.

At Harrison Pitt Architects she will work on projects in the leisure, commercial, education, historical buildings and residential housing sectors.

She said: “I was attracted to Harrison Pitt because the practice has worked on some really great buildings, it looks after its staff and is a growing firm. I’m really pleased to be part of that.”
