Mediamix: McCann bag Graham Taylor; Peppermint Soda; The Space Project

MCCANN Manchester has hired former England manager Graham Taylor for a new Aldi advert.

The twenty second spot features Graham Taylor in his armchair in front of the TV watching a match while making a comparison between a well known cider and Aldi’s own brand equivalent before his reclining chair flips back and he spills his drink. The pay-off is Taylor uttering the immortal line, “Do I not like  that”.

The commercial made its debut on June 9 and runs across multiple channels including ITV, Channel 4 and Sky. It is part of McCann’s Like Brands campaign which has won a string of awards.

Neil Lancaster, McCann Manchester’s creative director said: “The World Cup captivates the attention of the great British public like no other event. Over the past couple of years the Like Brands campaign for Aldi has really captured the imagination of UK consumers. We felt it lent itself perfectly to creating a real stand out commercial with a thread of great humour built around a well known footballing personality who has become a household name for his one liner about his preferences.”
