Construction round-up: Capital & Centric; PlaceFirst

MANCHESTER developer Capital & Centric has appointed Middleton-based construction company, Sustainability Inc, to carry out the £4m refurb of No 12 Tithebarn in Liverpool.
The 1970s office building is in Tithebarn Street and was formerly known as Churchill House.
Once complete it will offer 40,000 sq ft of office space. The scheme has received a grant worth £2.4m from the European Regional Development Fund.
Louise Pearson, development manager at Capital & Centric, said: “This building has sat empty for far too long – getting the main contract works underway signals the start of the building’s new lease of life in bringing cool office space to the city centre. We’re really happy to welcome Sustainability Inc to the team. They have the knowledge, expertise and architectural understanding to deliver our exciting design.”

DEVELOPER Placefirst and housing association Together Housing Group have appointed Greendale to deliver the first phase of Woodnook in Accrington, Lancashire.
Woodnook is a £15m regeneration scheme that will restore 131 empty terraced properties that were left in limbo following the failure of the last Government’s Pathfinder housing market renewal programme.
The first £6.5m phase will see empty Victorian terraces transformed into 71 two, three and four-bed homes for rent.
The scheme has been supported by a Get Britain Building loan from the Homes and Communities Agency secured by Manchester-based PlaceFirst.
