Vauxhall to hire 300 at Ellesmere Port

CAR manufacturer Vauxhall is creating 300 jobs at its Ellesmere Port Astra plant in Cheshire.
The plant, which has just celebrated 50 years of production, is preparing fo begin production of a new model next year.
The company is also taking on 250 more workers at its Luton van factory in Bedfordshire, says this announcement is the first significant new-hire programme for a decade.
Vauxhall said the new Ellesmere Port recruits would be taken on over the first quarter of 2015 to meet increased output at the site, which currently employs 1,600 people.
In 2012, Ellesmere Port won the contract to build the next generation, all-new Astra. Production of this model begins towards the end of 2015. The agreement secured the plant’s future into the next decade and secured a £125 investment.
Tim Tozer, chairman and managing director of Vauxhall said: “This is great news for Vauxhall and for British manufacturing,
“Both of our UK manufacturing plants have won long contracts with all-new product and as the business strengthens, we now need to take on more people to build these exciting new Vauxhalls.”
