MORSON Group, the Salford-based technical recruiter, has reported strong financial results after a year of growth, which included the rescue of Vital Human Resources.

Profits at the family-owned group leapt 13% in 2013 to £13.4m as revenues surged 17.7% to £635.5m.

During the year Morson opened an office in Houston, Texas, and also boosted its presence in the Middle East, where it now has offices in Iraq, Dubai and Qatar.

Finance director, Paul Gilmour, said: “Morson has built significantly on the gains achieved towards the latter part of 2012, and are a pleasing set of results for the group in a challenging market.”

Chief executive Ged Mason, added: “I am delighted with the 2013 results, this reflects the hard work delivered by all my colleagues at Morson and the initiatives put in place for growth.  We look forward to continuing this trend.”

Morson, founded by Ged Mason’s father Gerry in 1969, said its staff based at the Scottish dockyard Rothsyth, had worked extensively to supply engineers working on the new Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier, which was launched last week.

The company employs 400 people in the region, including 110 who joined as a result of the Vital Human Resources deal in November 2013.
