Property briefs: Henry Boot; New Care; PlaceFirst; Eddisons; Clough & Willis

HENRY Boot Developments has started on site a new £3.5m office facility at the Westlakes Science & Technology Park near Whitehaven, Cumbria.
Atkins, which offers services to the nuclear industry, has agreed a pre-let at the 21,300 sq ft building.
The scheme, which has received a £480,000 ‘Investing in Business’ grant from economic development organisation Britain’s Energy Coast, is expected to create a number of new jobs for the local economy and the offices will eventually accommodate up to 200 members of staff.
Work will commence on site in July and completion is scheduled for May 2015.
Dean Thompson, senior development surveyor at Henry Boot, said: “We are delighted to have started work on site having recently exchanged contracts with Atkins. This is an exciting new office development in a great location that will create jobs and provide a real boost to the local economy.”

ALTRINCHAM-based care home operator New Care Projects is planning an £7m, 82-bed care facility in Nottingham.
The company has acquired a plot in West Bridgford, just outside the city.
Chief executive Chris McGoff said: “The Midlands was a conscious choice for us as the region, like the North West, allows for a tight geographic cluster of care homes. As this purpose-built care home is our first outside our North West heartland, the plans are superb. It promises to be a truly modern, high quality care facility with a first class service.”
Manchester-based McGoff & Byrne will design and build the facility. New Care currently has two sites in Timperley and Urmston.

BURY-based law firm Clough & Willis has launched a new fixed fee service that has been designed to help clients who need advice on a commercial property lease.
The firm said the fixed fee service has been created for those tenants who do not feel the need for a lawyer to negotiate on their behalf.
The firm’s head of commercial property David Leviten said: “We have seen an upturn in the number of people wanting to take more control over their lease negotiations so this is a response to that. It’s designed to be flexible, cost effective and complementary to our existing commercial property law services.”
