Co-op’s £6m festive ad campaign

THE Manchester-based Co-operative Group has unveiled its £6m festive food advertising campaign.

The retail giant has chosen Australian singer Gabriella Cilmi to front the multi-media campaign, which will begin on TV next week. It has been developed by TBWAManchester and directed by Luke Scott of Ridley Scott Associates.

It aims to capture the magical moments of Christmas and also highligh The Co-operative’s key values under a theme ‘That’s the Spirit’.

Debbie Robinson, director of food retail marketing at The Co-op – the UK’s largest convenience retailer – said: “From buying the tree and putting the lights on to going to your children’s school nativity play, we are capturing the festive spirit in the run-up to Christmas.

“In addition, the campaign highlights The Co-operative’s strengths of great offers and convenience, ultimately allowing customers to do what really matters at Christmas – spending time with family and friends.”

The campaign is backed by a Gabriella Cilmi cover version of the classic Connie Francis hit, “Warm This Winter”, sourced by TBWAManchester’s brand content agency, STREAM.
