Former WRG boss launches in-home care business

A FORMER senior executive with live events company WRG is looking to hire up to 200 people after launching a North West in-home care business.

Karen Perry, 45, who was managing director of the Salford business before leaving in late 2011, has launched Alice Chilton, a business which pledges to raise the standards of care for people wishing to live independently in their home, or for families needing some respite from caring for a loved one.

She decided to launch a new business in this sector based on her own experiences of in-home care, firstly with her grandmother and then as a charity volunteer.

She said: “Alice Chilton is dedicated to providing a level of care that is both respectful and compassionate, with relevant support that fits around client’s lives. Whether it is help with shopping, a trip to the cinema, or more personal home care support, we help people to maintain an independent lifestyle with dignity.

“We are also busy working towards the launch of the Alice Chilton charitable trust which will financially benefit local charities; giving back to the community will always be at the heart of what we do.”

In a move to attract and retain carers of the highest calibre the Stockport company, which is looking for staff in its home borough and also in East Cheshire, will offer an above-industry-standard rate of pay to attract the best staff. Candidates will be screened to ensure they have the consistency of skills, qualifications and values the business is demanding.

Karen Perry’s husband Simon, has joined the business as operations director after working in banking for the last 12 years.

The senior management team also comprises experienced care sector professionals Mark and Michele Bushell.  Mr Bushell  holds the regional and national titles for Best Care Coordinator, awarded at the Great British Care Awards 2014. Registered care manager Michele is a qualified trainer, rolling out Alzheimer’s programmes for carers enabling them to work with clients with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

The business takes its name from Mrs Perry’s middle name, while Chilton was her grandmother’s maiden name.
