Investment tees up Liverpool Golf Centre for growth

THE new owners of Liverpool Golf Centre & Driving Range have completed a £210,000 investment programme.
The Maher family acquired the Netherley site a year ago and have since added a shop, café, and nine-hole mini golf and short game area.
Manager Adam Maher said: “We added two high-tech teaching bays and have two PGA Coaches based here now. We have also completely renovated what was the old bar area to create a shop which stocks a range of clothing, shoes and accessories from all the top brands and a café which will open within the next few weeks.
“Outside we have developed the land to add a short game area and nine-hole mini golf using the latest high tech astro turf which is the best synthetic material available. These new facilities mean our customers can now work on all aspects of their game. It has been designed to suit players of all abilities and is somewhere for the whole family to enjoy.”
He added: “We are delighted with the progress we’ve made here. When we took over the driving range it was in a pretty depleted state. It’s taken a lot of hard work to turn it around and attract visitors back to it as most local golfers were going elsewhere to practice. But we’ve managed it, our footfall is around 800–1000 people per week and we are getting excellent feedback.”
The business is now turning over around £200,000 and the Mahers expect this figure to grow in the coming year.
