Towergate opens for business

TOWERGATE Insurance’s new office in Manchester’s Spinningfields was officially opened yesterday.

The firm has taken 36,000 sq ft at 3 Hardman Square where it is hiring 400 contact centre staff to serve small commercial and consumer clients.

The London-based group’s chief executive Mark Hodges said: “We will be creating 400 jobs and look forward to being a significant player in the region. Putting our customers first is important to us, and the creation of a dedicated customer centre will mean an improved service for them.

“This new centre has been fitted out to a high standard in a short amount of time and I have been very impressed with the calibre of people we have attracted from across the region. We made the right decision to come to Manchester and this new development shows the ambition and drive that will shape a very successful future for Towergate.”

The company has said it worked with Manchester’s inward investment agency MIDAS after ruling out other UK locations, and settled on 3 Hardman Square because of its location.

MIDAS chief Tim Newns said: “As always these investment processes are highly competitive and therefore we were delighted to secure what is one of the most significant financial services investments in the UK in recent years and we look forward to continuing to support Towergate as the new facility grows to ensure its success.”

Towergate employs more than 5,000 people in over 100 UK offices.
