TLT set to make marquee signing with Devlin hire

TLT SOLICITORS, the ambitious law firm which has been building a presence in the North West over the last 18 months, is set to annouce a major ‘transfer’ coup.

TheBusinessDesk.com understands that respected DLA Piper corporate finance partner Stephen Devlin has agreed to join TLT, having been made a  highly attractive offer by the firm which made waves in the North West market late last year when it lured a 30-strong team from Irwin Mitchell.

Neither Bristol-based TLT, nor DLA Piper were commenting on Mr Devline’s switch, though it is understood his pending departure was announced internally before he left for a holiday last month.

Mr Devlin, who joined DLA Piper 15 years ago from Garretts, has played a key role in DLA Piper’s award winning 2014, having advised Manchester-based fashion retailer Boohoo on its AIM IPO in March.

He has a strong relationship with Zeus Capital, the Manchester firm which led the Boohoo deal, and he also advised the firm on its IPO of logistics provider DX, another significant AIM deal.

DLA Piper, which lost another of its partners, Nick Roome to KPMG last year, is now expected to bolster its North West corporate finance team at partner level to complement its senior advisory team led by head of corporate Jonathan Watkins and including partners Jonathan Kerrigan and Elia Montorio.
