Professional wannabes to sing for charity contest

SOME of the leading lights of the professional services sector, including pro.manchester chief John Ashcroft and Manchester Law Society president Fran Eccles-Bech, are taking centre stage for a charity event next month.

Can You Sing Manchester ? aims to revive the popular concept of The Y Factor – a popular charity event featuring lawyers, bankers and accountants who performed before a panel of judges.

The event, on October 9 at Revolution de Cuba on Peter Street, Manchester, is aiming to raise £50,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Francis House Children’s Hospice.

Organisers Future pro.manchester and MediaCity-based creative agency thisisLDA have signed Inspiral Carpets keyboard player and DJ Clint Boon has been confirmed as one of the judges for the event,

Among the participants are: media lawyer Steve Kuncewicz of Bermans; Barclays Corporate’s Miles Rothbury;  Craig Chaplin, a partner at law firm DWF;  James Hales, director at Clearwater Corporate Finance; Tim Grogan of Deloitte, future pro manchester chair Paul McGlone of Turner Parkinson and committee members Nick Rose and Sam Hall.

One highlight is expected to be a duet from John Ashcroft and Fran Eccles-Bech, who are already rehearsing their act.
