New coffee enterprise for Sevendale House

A NEW cafe venture has signed up for space at the newly refurbished Sevendale House in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The Foundation Coffee House has taken a 3,500 sq ft ground floor unit at the building in Lever Street.

Landlord Philip J Davies Holdings has just completed a £6m refurb, designed by Roger Stephenson, that has created 65,000 sq ft of grade A space over four floors and re-established a central light well.

Sevendale was unveiled at a function last week by Manchester City Council’s chief executive Sir Howard Bernstein who is the cousin of Mark Davies whose father Philip bought the building 30 years ago.

The Foundation Coffee House is a joint venture between interior design firm NoChintz and Adam Chapman, founder of the Heald Green-based QDos Fitness gym. The business expects to take on 12 staff and roll out the brand to other locations.

In a statement issued in July No Chintz website creative director Natalie Gray said: “We’ve visited some of the world’s best cafés and social spaces – taking the lead

from those in New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen and London. This has helped us fuse new ideas with concepts already established internationally; I can’t wait to unveil the completed space.”

Concert tickets group Ticketmaster is understood to be considering a large letting at the building of around 20,000 sq ft. It is looking to move a call centre from N Brown’s Griffin House further up Lever Street.

The agents at Sevendale are OBI Property and Daniel Harris & Co.
