Lancaster tops Times uni survey

LANCASTER University has been ranked the region’s top university by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.

It was placed 12th in the country, the same as last year, due to consistently good results in student satisfaction, a strong graduate jobs record, high entry standards and research.

Manchester University was ranked 28th, down from 26th last time, while Liverpool held its 36th place. This list was topped by Oxford and Cambridge in joint first place.

Earlier this week the QS World University rankings, which does not take into account student satisfaction surveys, placed Manchester in eighth place in the UK and 30th in the world. According to the QS ranking Liverpool was 123rd in the world and Lancaster 160th.

The Times and The Sunday Times league table is drawn from criteria including student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, student/staff ratios, service and facilities spend, and dropout rates.
