Marston’s seeks to build 40 bedroomed hotel

PUB chain Marston’s Inns and Taverns has submitted a planning application to build a 40-bedroom hotel in Blackburn.

The premises will be located on land next to The Willows, in Haslingden Road.

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council’s planning department is recommending that councillors grant permission for the two-storey scheme when they meet tomorrow.

The council’s strategic director of regeneration and environment, Adam Scott, writes in the report: “Given that the application is for reserved matters, the principle of the hotel is accepted with the remaining issues for consideration being the visual appearance, neighbouring impact and highway safety.

“These details have been addressed within the report and the development is considered to have an acceptable appearance, impact upon the neighbouring amenity and impact upon highway safety. As such, the development is recommended for approval.”
