John Atkins to leave MAG

JOHN Atkins, head of Manchester Airports Group Developments, is to leave in December to take up a job in a strategic land business.

Mr Atkins, who has been with MAG for more than 20 years, led the planning and development of the £650m Airport City development before being handed a wider property brief last year.

He was asked to lead the group’s property portfolio across Manchester, East Midlands, Stansted and Bournemouth airports.

The portfolio, which has a value of more than £350m, comprises more than 200 properties across 5,000 acres of land, with more than 800 customers.

MAG’s chief executive Charlie Cornish said: “In December, after 24 years’ service in a variety of roles, John Atkins will be leaving MAG to take up a new position in a strategic land business and as a non-executive director in the property sector.

“John has played a key role at MAG Property in his time with the business and has been invaluable in helping to deliver Airport City. We would like to thank John for his contribution over the years to MAG and wish him all the very best for the future.”

The strategic land business was not named and Mr Atkins was unavailable for interview.
