Appointments: New partner for EY; ISIS; Good Relations; Artez

EY has appointed Victoria Venning as a partner in the North West as it expans its regional assurance practice.

She joins EY from Deloitte in the Midlands, where she worked in the firm’s audit practice and was head of talent for its Nottingham office.

Commenting on her move, she said: “We are in a period of significant change for the audit industry, so it is an exciting time to be joining EY, which has a wealth of blue chip North West clients, a talented team, a clear focus on developing its assurance business in the region and significant momentum following a strong financial performance during FY14.

“I look forward to playing an important role in EY’s continued expansion by getting out into the North West market, meeting new clients and prospects, and working closely with the region’s major corporates.”

PRIVATE equity firm ISIS has expanded its Manchester team to eight with the appointment of corporate financier Oliver Mauldridge.

ISIS has had a busy last 12 months which has seen the team complete three new investments and two exits. Deals include the £45m secondary management buyout of Manchester based internet services provider Metronet and the £17m management buyout of Manchester based Key Travel.

Mauldridge joins after three years at DC Advisory, where he was an associate director. During his time at DC Advisory he worked on a number of deals including Cardtronics Inc’s £41.5m recent acquisition of Sunwin Services Group from the Co-op.

Pete Clarke,  who heads ISIS’ Manchester office said: “We are delighted to welcome Oliver to ISIS and we’re excited about the opportunities the region provides for us to invest in businesses needing £2m to £40m of equity funding from an experienced partner. MANCHESTER legal firm HRC Law has boosted its employment team with the appopintment of associate solicitor Robert Maddocks.

Maddocks, who was previously with Ellis Whittam is an experienced Employment Tribunal litigator and regularly deals with both high value and complex claims. He becomes the sixth member of staff in the team.

Employment partner Richard Whalley said: “We are delighted that Rob has decided to advance his career at HRC Law. He has experience in all aspects of day to day HR employment advice, and Employment Tribunal claims and as we are being engaged by more and more clients with high value claims his strengths in these areas will be in much demand.”

PR firm Good Relations has bolstered its consumer division with the appointment of Leigh Purves, a former Daily Star showbiz editor.

She has joined the group’s Macclesfield office as associate director.

Purves cut her teeth at The Daily Star and went on to work at More! New! and Now and has contributed to Sky News, Channel 5 and ITV’s This Morning. More recently she was working as media director at Hale-based agency Peppermint Soda.

Good Relations’ managing director Zoe Ensor said: “Leigh’s appointment signals a significant strategic move for the consultancy, as we look to capitalise on recent growth and drive our consumer offering even harder.”

BOLTON construction firm Artez has appointed former Gleeds quantity surveyor Mike Wood as commercial manager.

His job will be to build the firm’s client base which now includes Peel Holdings, Urban Splash and Capital & Centric.

Managing director Mike Banton, who founded Artez in 2010 following a career with Artisan and Urban Splash, said: “Reinvesting in the business through the recruitment of experts and leaders in their field is integral to our growth.

“Mike’s a great asset to our team and his past work on some very high profile projects means he brings a wealth of valuable commercial experience to our offering. Furthermore, his extensive experience means we can continue to service our growing client base and their varying requirements.”

New projects include £400,000 of work at Newgate Market, York, and is also carry out refurbishment work at the Market Place shopping centre in Bolton.
