Imerja enters second decade with strong momentum

IT company Imerja has celebrated a decade in business with record earnings and a growing number of orders from the National Health Service for a new video service.

The Bolton-based company said a focus on growing long-term support and managed service contracts reported flat  sales of £6.3m, but said profits in the year to the end of July, which weren’t disclosed, were up more than 40%.

The company now has more than 50 staff working at its head office in Bolton and regional bases in Market Harborough and Elstree near London. It has also recently launched an apprenticeship scheme.

Co-founder and managing director Ian Jackson said: “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over the last 10 years, and to break both revenue and profit records is a fitting end to the decade. Looking at our renewals and new business pipeline I’m confident we’ll be celebrating another strong year in 2015.

“To think that the company has grown from an idea originally discussed over dinner to delivering award-winning services and achieving record turnover in its tenth year is very satisfying, and a credit to everyone that has worked hard and supported us on the journey.

“Longstanding customer relationships we have developed across the public sector, coupled with a broad portfolio of household names in retail and other sectors, have enabled us to build an enviable client base.”

Imerja’s Video-as-a-Service (VaaS) offering which enables healthcare professionals and patients to communicate remotely through the use of high definition video technology, regardless of their location, has been key to the increase in profits.

After delivering the product to the Lancashire & Cumbria Cardiac & Stroke Network,  Imerja has since rolled out VaaS to support tele-health services across the region with customers including  Alder Hey Children’s Hospital’s pediatric neurology department, Lancashire Teaching Hospital’s renal department, and Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s speech and language therapy department are all currently using the technology.

Mr Jackson added: “VaaS is a great example of what can be achieved when a company focuses on innovation, finding creative ways to apply technology to help address important challenges customers face.”

In September Imerja announed a a three-year contract with global research network company DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe). The company will be providing a 24/7 service desk to help predict, respond to, and resolve any network issues.
