Housing plans approved for Kendal

CUMBRIAN landowner Levens Estate has secured planning permission for two residential schemes in Kendal and Levens.

The proposals include 119 houses off Lumley Road, Kendal, and 50 in nearby Levens.

Both applications attracted opposition from residents complaining of over development and potential for traffic congestion, but South Lakeland District Council backed the plans.

GVA advised Levens Estate. Planning associate James Sheppard said: “We are delighted to have secured this planning permission for Levens Estate, allowing for high quality housing, including much needed affordable housing for the area.

“The sites benefit from a location that is within easy reach of the key service centre of Kendal, thereby endorsing these sites as sustainable settlement extensions.”
