Freedman’s venture to train the trainers

A BUSINESS set up by former Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman and ex-Crystal Palace player Gavin Heeroo has opened an academy in Manchester for people who want to become qualified personal trainers.

Focus Fitness UK, which was established in London two years ago, has opened a base at Conavon Court, Blackfriars Street, Salford. It is headed by business operations manager Vicky Owens, who also oversees a regional sales team.

It offers six-week training courses leading to nationally-recognised diplomas in fitness instructing and personal training.

Ms Owens said: “We’re excited to be launching the Focus Fitness UK academy in Greater Manchester and we’re looking forward to receiving our first intake of students in the very near future.

“Graduates will leave as fully-qualified personal trainers, ready to work in gyms, health and fitness clubs, or in their own business. They will leave our courses confident and ready to train all clients they may encounter.”
