Council set to deliver approval for DPD warehouse

THE developer St Modwen is expected to win planning consent next week for a new warehouse in north Liverpool for the parcel delivery firm DPD.
It wants to build a 70,000 sq ft depot at Stonebridge Industrial Estate in Fazakerley which is expected to create 230 jobs.
If approved it will be DPD’s first base in the city and is one of 15 new depots being planned by the company as part of a £75m investment announced in April.
The site, on open land close to the East Lancs Road and junction 4 of the M57, would employ 48 warehouse staff and 170 drivers.
DPD is a division of GeoPost, France’s biggest parcel delivery firm which is part of the state-owned mail service La Poste.
Liverpool City Council is still hoping to lure Amazon to a 1.2 million sq ft distribution base that has been proposed by a joint venture between Gallan and Stoford for nearby Stonebridge Cross.
