Approval granted for Axis Tower

PROPERTY Alliance Group and Development Securities have won planning permission for their Axis Tower at Deansgate Locks.

The luxury 28-storey apartment block will occupy a small plot first earmarked for an 18-storey office block.

It will have 172 one, two and three-bed apartments and be clad in reflective metallic bronze and glass. There will also be a 30-metre LED advertising screen which PAG says will “disappear” when not in use.

PAG director Dominic Pozzoni said: “This is a unique site and our team has created a statement building that will stand proud in the Manchester skyline… We now look forward to creating Manchester’s number one residence and already have a significant number of pre-reserved units.”

Matthew Weiner, director of Development Securities, said: “Axis Tower is a significant development opportunity for us and will deliver an iconic new residential building in the heart of Manchester. With planning now secured, we look forward to progressing the project to the next phase with a start on site anticipated in early 2015.”

The building has been designed by 5plus Architects. The planning application was handled by John Cooper of Deloitte Real Estate.
