MSP takes on back office roles at The Sharp Project

MANCHESTER Science Partnerships (MSP) has taken on some back office and maintenance duties at the Sharp Project centre for media businesses in east Manchester.

Its subsidiary, Principal Agent Management, was appointed to handle financial management and caretaking at the end of March.

The contract also applies to the Sharp Project’s sister site, The Space Project, which is more geared towards TV production.

The work was previously handled by Creative and Technical Media Services which held the contract for two years. The council, which owns the site, said MSP offered “best value for money”.

The council is a 12% shareholder in MSP but it is controlled by the Manchester property group Bruntwood, which holds 64% of the shares. The rest are owned by Manchester University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Cheshire East Council, Salford Council and the Central Manchester NHS Trust.

MSP has grown in recent years, taking on AstraZeneca’s former base near Alderley Edge and completing the conversion of the former Royal Eye Hospital in Oxford Road into office and lab space. It also owns One Central Park, which is located behind the Sharp Project, Technopark in Hulme and Salford Innovation Park.
