Speedy aims to fuel growth with Certas link-up

TOOL and equipment hire group Speedy has agreed a significant deal with Certas Energy, the Warrington-based independent fuel and lubricant distributor.

Certas, which has annual revenues of more than £4bn, has been appointed as Speedy’s national fuel partner – a move which it says will position it as a “leading force” in delivering temporary power generation.

The strategic partnership means that Speedy’s customers will now benefit from more competitive fuel prices and have access to a supply network which delivers over six billion litres of fuel.

Speedy already owns the largest fleet of fuel tankers in the hire industry and, together with Certas, it will have a combined capability of more than 1,000 tankers servicing every UK postcode and over 150 Certas Energy refueling depots nationwide.

The deal means Speedy will be able to deliver fuel anywhere in the UK, including to remote and inaccessible areas.

A dedicated Certas Energy account manager will be based at Speedy’s head office in Haydock.

Jim Williams, Northern regional director at Certas Energy, said: “Speedy’s power division has seen major expansion over the years and is regarded as one of the UK’s leading generator hire businesses. This strategic partnership is a fantastic opportunity for both companies and we look forward to developing a long-term relationship.”

Brian Cornett, managing director of Speedy’s power division, said: “This strategic partnership has strengthened our position as a leading UK power hire specialist, and by joining with Certas, we are proud to have one of the strongest power fuel offerings in the UK.

“We’ve been providing our customers with specialist power products for the past 14 years and by partnering with Certas Energy we’re now able to service the power generation demands of all sectors and industries.”
