Chirk hotel changes hands

A 45-bed hotel in Chirk, near Wrexham, has been sold by the family business that built it 14 years ago.

The Moreton Park Hotel has been bought for an undisclosed sum by Habern Enterprises which is planning a full refurbishment.

The three-star hotel was built in 2000 by the Oswestry-based Shropshire Leisure Group which is owned by the Dulson family.

Neil Thomson, associate director at Colliers International in Manchester, acted for the Dulsons. He said: “We were invited by the Dulson family to confidentially market the hotel and pub in March and after a short but highly successful and well managed process, a number of potential buyers came forward to express their interest.

“The subsequent sale demonstrates the significantly improved market for successful and profitable hotels in the area and follows recent sales concluded by Colliers International including Plas Maenan Country House Hotel at Conway and The Hand Hotel in Llanarmon DC.”
