FIFTY jobs have been saved after a Warrington-based engineering services firm took on a contract previously held by a business that collapsed.

The staff had been working on behalf of electrical contractor Watson Norrie but were left uncertain about their futures after it went into administration in October.

The Boulting Group has taken on the job at Corus’s site in Scunthorpe and is using the same team to complete it. A Boulting spokesman said the contract was long-term and unless Corus shut down the plant it would maintain the contracted workers.

Boulting has also retained Watson Norrie’s regional office in Scunthorpe and said it was keen to grow its business in the area. Newcastle-based Watson Norrie had said it could not fulfil outstanding contracts without significant additional funding.
