Search continues for department store saviour

ADMINISTRATORS handling the historic Lytham department store JR Taylor are still looking for a buyer.

The Manchester office of Duff & Phelps was appointed to the business on December 8.

It is owned by How Jow Investments, an offshore company registered in Jersey.

The shop, which was founded in 1901, has 60 staff and is continuing to trade, offering up to 50% off on much of its stock.

In a statement Duff & Phelps said: “Trading has suffered in recent years due to the well-publicised economic difficulties facing high street retailers in the UK.

“The joint administrators are urgently reviewing the company’s financial position and are continuing to trade the business whilst seeking a purchaser.”
