Appointments: Nabarro nets Howard Gill; WSP & more

A LAW firm as unveiled two new partners at its Manchester office.
Howard Gill has joined Nabarro from Pinsent Masons to become the firm’s first corporate partner in the city after the office was launched last year.
Gill’s background is in corporate finance, M&A deals in the region and major corporate transactions in the real estate and hotels sector.
His appointment has been made alongside the hire of Peter Winnard, a real estate partner from Eversheds. Winnard has significant experience of the most complex development and regeneration real estate work in the North West.
He will join a partner-led real estate team in Manchester which includes Monica Brij, who joined from Addleshaw Goddard in November supported by eight fee earners. Mark Haywood, former head of real estate at Addleshaws who will lead the real estate practice for Nabarro in Manchester, is due to join with partner Nathan Jansen later in the year.

PROFESSIONAL services specialist WSP has hired Mark Webb as technical director for ecology in its environmental team.
Webb joins the Manchester office with a remit to grow the company’s specialist ecology offering in the region.
The latest senior hire is part of an ongoing recruitment drive by the multi-disciplined business, which has grown its environment arm in the city from five to more than 70 in less than a decade.
Webb has worked in ecology for 20 years, primarily involved in minerals, forestry and renewable energy in recent years.
He said: “There is increasing demand in the North West for specialist services, including ecological and environmental assessments, thanks to a rising number of green and brownfield sites being released for private sector development – especially in the residential sector – making this a key growth area for the business.”
WSP’s Manchester office consists of 181 staff operating across multi-disciplines, including structural and building services engineering, infrastructure, transport planning, management advisory and environmental consultancy.

NATWEST has appointed Dave Haslam as director of commercial banking in Bolton and Blackburn and Joanne Barlow as senior relationship manager in Bolton.
Haslam has previously fulfilled the same role for NatWest at Preston and Blackburn and has replaced Ian Settle in Bolton, who is now working for NatWest in Wigan and Preston and has worked for the bank for 27 years..
Haslam, who has worked for NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland for nearly 32 years, will lead a team of commercial managers as they support SMEs across the Bolton area.
Barlow joins the Bolton team having previously worked as a senior relationship manager in Manchester.
