Gin maker in high spirits as sales leap

THE second largest gin distiller in the world, based in Warrington, is forecasting record-breaking results for 2015.
G&J Distillers, which produces 29 different gins, expects turnover to rise to £66m, an increase of 38% from 2012’s figure of £48m.
Since 2009, G&J has increased its bottle production output from 54.5 to 63 million bottles a year, a figure expected to rise even further this year to a 65 million bottles.
The business has also expanded its production team by 20% to manage the additional output.
Mark Parton, managing director of G&J Distillers, said: “G&J Distillers has seen tremendous growth over the past two years, in terms of turnover and output. And we are expecting to see these figures rise steeply as we look ahead to 2015.
“We now ship to over 34 countries across the world, so it’s been vital that we increase our staff to ensure we can meet the additional demand for products that we have seen over recent years. And our state of the art distillery ensures that we can produce more gin and other spirits than ever before, which enables us to manufacture 60% of the UK’s gin and 20% globally.”
He added: “G&J Distiller’s continued growth is testament to over 250 years of hard work and craftsmanship, and as the oldest distillery in the world we are delighted to look back at how far we’ve come and excited to see the great future that lies ahead.”
