MIDAS flies out to woo Indian investment

INVESTMENT agency MIDAS is stepping-up its drive to woo Indian investment with a mission there this week.

Last summer the Manchester-based organisation hosted an Indian delegation at a trade seminar tied-in with the England-India Test match at Old Trafford cricket ground, and to build on this momemtum is visiting Bangalor and Mumbai.

Led by chief executive Tim Newns, the delegation also includes India trade expert Jo Ahmed, a director at Deloitte, Manchester, and supported by the UK India Business Council and UKTI.

In Bangalore, MIDAS and Deloitte, will be hosting an exclusive business High Tea event, which will take place at UK India Business Council’s office.Guest speakers include Dominic Jermey, chief executive of UKTI, Tim Newns and Jo Ahmed.

Newns will also speak about the city’s life science sector at Bangalore Bio India, India’s largest biotech conference, with a message of “Make in India, Innovate in Manchester”.

Former India and Lancashire cricketer Farokh Engineer will join the delegation in Mumbai along with Sheetal Talwar, managing director of Vistaar Productions who has just opened a new post-production facility in Manchester.

Newns said: “Manchester has a rich heritage in thinking, making and doing and has been at the forefront of global economic development for over 300 years.

“The city recognises that these are key areas for growth for the Indian economy and we’re delighted to be meeting businesses in Bangalore and Mumbai who operate in these sectors; giving them the opportunity to discover first hand that there’s more to Manchester than football.

“Vistaar Productions recent investment in the city is testament to this and we will be helping them to ‘Make in India’ and Innovate in Manchester.”
