Contractor named for Two St Peter’s Square

CONSTRUCTION and engineering firm Laing O’Rourke has been appointed to deliver Mosley Street Ventures’ £80m office building in Manchester.

Laing O’Rourke has started work on the redevelopment of Two St Peters Square on Mosley Street with a scheduled completion date of January 2017.

Mosley Street Ventures director Darryl Lee said: “We were impressed with the proposal Laing O’Rourke put forward. They have an excellent reputation and we are looking forward to the start of construction.

The 11-storey building will comprise of 161,113 sq ft of space with 5,142 sq ft of ground floor leisure space and car parking for 72 vehicles.

Mosley Street Ventures is owned by Fred and Peter Done, the owners of betting company BetFred and legal and health and safety consultancy Peninsula Business Services.

Tom Higgins, who leads Laing O’Rourke in the north, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Mosley Street Ventures on this significant addition to Manchester’s commercial portfolio.

“We have a strong working knowledge of the St Peter’s Square heritage development area, through our delivery of the Town Hall Complex transformation and Second City Crossing.
