Freight firm to invest after agreeing new lease

THE UK arm of an Irish logistics and shipping company has agreed a long-term lease in Ellesmere Port and will now spend more than £1m on a 40,000sq ft warehouse.

Quality Freight UK has signed a new 20-year lease at its 40-acre multi-modal facility at Manisty Wharf.

As well as the construction of the new warehouse, which will allow the company to increase the volume, quality and variety of goods it handls, it is planning to buy further three vehicles in the coming months, taking itssfleet to  12.

Sebastian Gardiner, managing director of Quality Freight UK, said: “The signing of our new lease is an important milestone as it provides security for the further, significant investment we plan to make in the next 12-18 months.

“Our capital expenditure programme reinforces our commitment to Ellesmere Port and our desire to enhance our position as a leading multi-modal facility. The signing of the lease and our expansion plans will also enable us to add to our 50-strong workforce.”

Quality Freight UK is part of the Dublin-based Quality Freight Group. In addition to the base in Ellesmere Port, the group has bases in Belfast, Cork, Knock, Hull, Grangemouth, Chatham and Rotterdam.
