New Algarve base for Avalon

PRE-PAID funeral plan specialist Avalon has set up a new base in Portugal.

The Cheshire-headquartered company has set up in Ohlao, near Faro in the Algave, in order to provide a face-to-face service to customers across the country.

The Algarve is home to about 15,000 British, Irish and European citizens. Since attracting its first customers from the region in 2014, Avalon has seen a 200% increase in inquiries.

Jason Gardner, head of Europe at Avalon, said: “Opening our new base in Portugal is the latest development in our European expansion. It makes it easy for British expats in the country to access our services and to enjoy a personal service.”

Avalon says it aims to protect customers from rising funeral costs and the difficulty of arranging a funeral, which can be complex outside the UK.
