Accountancy firm to look after speedway fund

REGISTERED charity The Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund (SRBF) has appointed accountants and business advisors Beever and Struthers to provide audit services.
The SRBF exists solely for the purpose of offering support and assistance to speedway riders who have been seriously injured, forced into long-term sickness from their work, or whose lives have been devastated as a result of accidents while racing for British-based teams.
The charity based in Rugby, Warwickshire, purchases items including wheelchairs and other equipment to help with the disabilities of beneficiaries and provides assistance such as alterations to living accommodation in addition to supporting riders who have short term injuries of between one and six months.
Its main source of income is donations from speedway supporters worldwide with collections at speedway tracks supported by other donations and specific fundraising events.
Iain Round, audit partner at Manchester-based Beever and Struthers, heads the specialist team providing audit services for the SRBF, and said: “The SRBF provides invaluable and unique work catering for the needs of injured riders and is a prestigious addition to the growing number of clients in our expanding not-for-profit team.
“This latest appointment is indicative of a strong start to 2015 after a record breaking 2014 during which we won more new clients that at any time in the firm’s 116-year history.”
SRBF Secretary and Treasurer Paul Ackroyd said: “We’re very pleased with the appointment of Beever and Struthers because they very quickly gained a good understanding of what our charity is all about.”
