Foundation looking for able ‘lieutenants’

COMMUNITY foundation Forever Manchester has launched a search for vice presidents to support Phil Jones, the charity’s president.

Jones, managing director of Brother UK, was appointed as the first president from the business community in June by the charity which gave £4.2m to good causes across greater Manchester in 2014.

The vice presidents will form and lead steering groups in specialist business sectors – initially in the areas of creative industries and professional services.

As well as Jones, the vice presidents will work with vice chair of the charity, Sandy Lindsay from Tangerine PR, as well as the charity’s business development team, to drive awareness and fundraising in their areas of specialism.

Jones said: “As president of Forever Manchester I pledged to help it realise its ambition to help more people across our region, by raising awareness of how it gives people and companies a different way to channel charitable giving directly into communities.

“And I’m now seeking ‘lieutenants’, who know different and complimentary areas of expertise to me, to help me and the team take things to the next level.”

Nick Massey, chief executive of Forever Manchester, said: “Phil’s appointment has already had a major impact on the charity and we believe this new approach of targeting sectors and disciplines via leading practitioners will really drive things on. We’re looking forward to meeting and working with these new teams.”

Anyone interested in applying to be a vice president should visit the Forever Manchester website where the job specification and application process are posted. The deadline for applications is May 1.
