Packaging firm on course for target £6m revenue

A FAMILY-run vacuum packaging company is trumpeting impressive levels of growth with turnover up 16% from £3.7m to £4.3m.

The increase comes on the back of heightened demand for Bury-based The Vacuum Pouch Company from food producers looking to seal products to increase expiry dates.

The company claims to be the UK’s largest supplier of vacuum packaging products to the food and non-food industry.

It currently imports stock from a number of overseas suppliers, selling to businesses across the UK and Ireland.

Vacuum Pouch has also secured a funding deal with The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to help it set up its own manufacturing facility at its current site, financing the cost to purchase machinery.

The new manufacturing facility will enable the company to produce certain lines in house, increase supply to customers which should help the business to achieve its goal of hitting £6m turnover in the next three years.

Founded by Chris McCormack in 1988, The Vacuum Pouch Company is now also run by him and his son Adam McCormack.

The company operates from a state-of-the-art warehouse facility in Walshaw, employing ten members of staff.

Gavin Elmes, senior relationship manager at RBS, said: “We are really pleased that we have been able to support Adam and Chris with funding.  Their growth strategy is excellent and the results they have achieved in recent years speak for themselves.

“The company has built up an enviable reputation for product development and innovation and has many long standing customer relationships and strong partnerships with manufacturing partners which all contribute to its success.”
