£81m student site on course for launch

AN £81m luxury development for students of The University of Salford is on target for a September launch.

The eight-storey residential site, Peel Park Quarter, will accommodate 1,367 students beds and has been developed by Campus Living Villages.

CLV says it has worked alongside the university to provide facilities specifically designed to create a unique environment for students to live, learn and grow.

Communal social spaces play host to pool tables and other games facilities, while lounges feature SkyTV and the latest games consoles to help students unwind and relax after a hard day studying.

An on-site cinema also allows students to enjoy the latest blockbuster movie with friends, from the comfort of their own home.

There will be an on-site gym and basketball court nearby, while joint designed kitchens have also been created.

Other amenities at the campus include professional meeting spaces, fully equipped with the latest audio visual facilities.

The new development is being built and managed with the University of Salford and Salford Village Limited, a consortium made up of CLV, construction firm GRAHAM Construction and investors Equitix and Kier Project Investment. The purpose built campus forms a sizeable part of the university’s wider development plan.

CLV is the incumbent provider of student accommodation at the University of Salford and has been operating residences John Lester, Eddie Colman and Bramall Court since 2008.

Sean McKeown, commercial director at CLV said: “We are delighted with the building progression of the site. The new Peel Park Quarter campus marks an important stage in the University of Salford’s development plan and further strengthens our commitment to delivering global leading accommodation with university partners.”

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Salford, professor Martin Hall, said: “The Peel Park Quarter campus is an exciting development within the university’s offering and will, alongside the other major investments, strengthen the appeal of the university to potential students on an international scale.”
