Appointments: Hallidays Accountants: Corporation Pop; SureCare; Kings Chambers & more

HALLIDAYS Accountants has announced that client manager Nichola Coles has been promoted to director.

Coles joined Hallidays in 2006 and qualified as an accountant in 2010. She has gained experience working within a range of sectors including SMEs, credit unions, and financial services as well as helping a number of start-ups.

More recently she has focused on supporting owner managed SMEs, helping them to grow and achieve their business and personal goals through holistic reviews, business development meetings and Hallidays One Page Plan, a business management tool.

The move sees Hallidays expanding from seven to eight directors.

Coles said: “I’ve always loved working at Hallidays; we really are nothing like your usual accountancy practice. Our mission as a firm is to support and grow our clients and ourselves and I’m looking forward to helping drive Hallidays to achieve this as their newest Director.

MANCHESTER-based digital agency Corporation Pop has recruited a technical project manager in response to increased demand for app and software development work.

Sarah Clarke-Nevett joins the company from Magma Digital in Preston. She started her career as a software engineer specialising in database development before moving into project management and is now a qualified scrum master – a specialist in agile software development.

In her new role, Clarke-Nevette will manage the delivery of complex software projects for desktop, mobile and web devices.

Corporation Pop has also recently welcomed Caius Eugene and Marta Niemczynska to its digital team.

Eugene joined the company as Applications Developer having previously worked at Clicks and Links where he was lead developer. His main expertise lies in game-based development. As well as working on avatar-based therapy software ProReal, he is developing an augmented reality mobile application, which will be released in June.

Niemczynska has been appointed as a 3D Designer having previously worked at Modern English. She is working across a range of projects and is responsible for 3D environments and modelling for ProReal.

CHESTER-headquartered SureCare has made two key appointments to support its franchises.

The care franchise specialist has made Christine Dilly business development manager for the North with the additional responsibility for rolling out the SureCare Local micro franchise offer.

Clare Roberts has also been appointed as business development manager for the South with special responsibility for suporting franchisees with tender submissions.

The dual appointments follow the announcement by SureCare Managing Director Gary Farrer that he wants to launch new franchises and micro franchises across the UK over the next 18 months.

 ONE of the UK’s most senior legal figures has recently joined Kings Chambers to spearhead its domestic and international arbitration team.

Sir Maurice Kay is the former Vice-President of the Court of Appeal and was one of the UK’s most respected Appellate Judges. Sir Maurice will practice from Kings Chambers in Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds.  

He retired from the Court of Appeal Civil Division in October 2014 and has joined Kings Chambers to resume practice in the role of Arbitrator.

Colin Griffin, chief clerk at Kings Chambers, said: “We’re extremely pleased that Sir Maurice should choose Kings Chambers as he returns to private practice. He had a formidable reputation on the bench, presiding in a range of important and difficult cases both as a High Court Judge and a Lord Justice of Appeal.”

Sir Maurice said: “Kings has an enviable reputation across a large geographical area and in addition to its established advocacy services, the set has a very good profile in arbitration matters which I found very attractive.”

FINANCIAL Advice Network, the only network owned by a mutual society in the UK, has appointed Mark Smitheringale to lead its development and growth over the next five years.

His key focus at Manchester-based FAN, part of Shepherds Friendly Society Group, is to retain and develop relationships with existing appointed representatives and grow the number of national advisers within the network.

He previously held a wide variety of leadership and board roles, specialising in sales, marketing communications, business development and client relationship management, primarily at Skipton Building Society Group.
