Contract wins fuel engineer’s expansion

A MANCHESTER engineering company has embarked on an expansion programme following a raft of contract wins which has seen its revenue top £18m.
Haden Freeman, a specialist in multi-disciplinary engineering practices has grown steadily, expanding into Qatar and Southampton since its launch in 1983.
In addition to its 12,000sq ft Denton facility, where there are 160 employees, the company has opened a base at the 600sq ft Wilton Centre in Redcar, in the North East with a team of five.
The new office will specialise in design and project management for the process industries, and has seen huge demand for its services throughout the North East in recent months, securing contracts with some of the biggest manufacturers in the region.
These include delivering front-end project design for expansion work at Akzo Nobel’s Felling site, an innovative pre-feed design solution for Applied Graphene, and a research project for Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies in Teesside.
Meanwhile, it is also carrying out technical projects for Peterlee-based speciality chemicals companies, Momentive, County Durham-based Thomas Swan & Co, and Redcar-based steel plant, SSI UK.
Wayne Baxter, managing director at Haden Freeman, said: “Our North East business has gone from strength to strength, largely as a result of ambitious expansion and investment from some of the biggest manufacturers in the region.
“That is helping the North East’s reputation as an engineering and manufacturing powerhouse, recognised on a global scale, and we’re excited to be part of that.”
