Boon launches Tribe apartments

RADIO presenter and former Inspiral Carpets electronic organist Clint Boon has launched a trio of apartment blocks in Manchester’s New Islington district.

All 192 apartments in the Tribe development are owned by a single landlord and managed in partnership with Plumlife, the Manchester-based sales and letting arm of northern housing group Great Places.

The 12-storey blocks have been decorated to reflect Manchester’s musical heritage and have undergone a complete transformation after standing emmpty for more than 15 years.

The Tribe development is a collaborative between Manchester City Council, Tribe Apartments and Rowlinson Constructions.

Manchester-based architects, Pozzoni, has led on design.

Clint Boon said:“Tribe is a cool new approach to renting in the city centre, the flats look amazing, are mostly all fully furnished and everyone has the same landlord. In the last ten years everyone wants to move to town and be close to Band on the Wall, Gorilla, HOME and all the bars in the Northern Quarter.”

Nigel Rawlings, of Tribe Apartments, which led the project on the ground, said: “We chose to style each apartment with a nod to Manchester’s musical past and reflect the eclectic style of the nearby Northern Quarter. We offer apartments with stylish interiors, one reliable landlord and all a short walk away from the buzz of the city centre.”

The transformation of the three blocks has been made possible thanks to a £7.9m Build To Rent loan from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) – the first to be awarded in the UK. Build to Rent offers finance for private rent schemes which meet the need for good quality, large-scale developments in the private rent sector.

The substantial funds were secured through institutional investments managed by Cabot Square Capital.
