Magic carpet Games deal for signs company

LANCASHIRE-based HD Signs will be rolling out the red carpet, as well as blue, yellow, green and purple ones at the inaugural European Games which take place in Baku, Azerbaijan in June.

The company, which specialises in corporate, retail and sports advertising solutions, has been asked to produce a series of circular carpets in a variety of colours for the event, which will feature more than 6,000 athletes competing in more than 20 different sports.

The 70 rubber-backed mats produced by HD Signs are being used at all the major venues at entrances and at trackside.

“Winning this prestigious Baku order is great news for two reasons HD Signs — it’s an important job because it is the first European Games and it is wonderful to be involved,” says general manager Steve Cox. “It will be great to see them on TV soon.

“The mats are the latest product we have introduced to our range of services. We can now print lie flat rubber backed mats with any design or shape — they’re perfect for sporting events like the European Games or for offices, shops, wedding venues and so on.”

HD Signs, which is part of the Linemark group, offers everything from commercial and stadium signage through to surface graphics. It has recently won contracts with British Cycling and the BMX World Cup.

Earlier this year HD Signs, which is headquartered inRossendale, produced one of the world’s largest pieces of sand art to mark Crabbie’s sponsorship of the 2015 Grand National. The logo, which measured more than 1600 square meters was created at Lytham.

Adds Steve: “We have developed a great track record for our work in the sports sector and this contract adds to our experience. But we also have a great mix of clients much closer to home including a wide range of businesses.”

Headquartered in Rawtenstall, HD Signs uses the latest manufacturing and printing technology and has its own in-house design and manufacturing capabilities.

The European Games is the final ‘continental’ Games to be inaugurated after the Asian Games, Pan-American Games, All-Africa Games and Pacific Games. As of 2015, every continent will have a continental Games in the Olympic tradition. The sports at Baku include Archery, Athletics, Volleyball, Boxing, Cycling, Judo, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Triathlon and Wrestling.
