Week Ending: Run your own pub? ; Business Heavyweights latest

EVER wanted to run your own boozer?
Well now you can, well sort of, without having to eject rowdy punters or clean the toilets…. thanks to Cheshire businessman Paul Austen.
Austen from Congleton, has created a free app which allows users a taste of running a back -street pub or high street bar.
Called The Pub Landlord and a new release on App Store this week, the app allows you to select your stock levels, choosing from cheap, mid range or premium ranges of beers, wines, spirits and snacks, making sure you can balance the books and get maximum return on each day’s trading.
As the landlord, you also hire your own staff, run events from live football and rugby nights to karaoke evenings, quiz nights and pool tournaments.
Austen, an accountant by profession, conceived and developed The Pub Landlord after being brought in to advise real pub landlords.
He said: “I have developed The Pub Landlord to give people a taster by simulating the day to day operation in real time – with stock levels and staff to manage and events to host.
“It has been built with wide appeal and use by a broad target audience from those who just enjoy the challenge, to people who are considering entering into the licensing trade, or even business students looking for case study experience.”
As you earn more points you build up cash reserves and your pub’s reputation allowing you to move up a level, taking on a gastro pub or a swanky bar’… Cheers!!
