Matthews leaves post as EEF regional chief

THE North West regional director of manufacturing and employers’ organisation EEF, Darrell Matthews has left the organisation “by mutual consent”.

Matthews has been in his post since October 2013. A spokeswoman for EEF confirmed his departure and said his replacement would be announced as “soon as possible”.

Prior to his role at EEF, Matthews was head of corporate membership and then regional director of the Institute of Directors.

EEF is currently campaigning for Britain to stay within the EU. A survey this week from the organisation said manufacturers are planning to invest across a range of areas in the next two years in an effort to boost productivity.

While productivity is a major investment driver, it says levels of new spending are being affected by confidence in the demand outlook, emerging capacity constraints and diversification into new business areas.
