Jiffy invests in new kit

A MULTI-million pound investment programme is underway at Cheshire-based packaging group Jiffy.

Parent company Italian group Airpack, which acquired Jiffy from US-based Pregis Corp 14 months ago, has invested in extrusion technology at the Winsford site.

The technology will manufacture polyethylene foam in a variety of thicknesses. From thin section foam for interleaving and surface protection, and thicker foams for cushioning and wrapping, to even thicker section foams for impact protection and insulation.

The investment is designed to enhance Jiffy’s position as a major manufacturer of protective packaging foam in the UK.

Managing director, Max Weller said, “We are delighted to reveal that phase one of our new investment programme is in place, allowing us to bring new products to market.

“We have already been clear about our ambitions to grow and this investment will allow us to accelerate that growth. Jiffy has new owners, new investment and will be entering new markets.”

Jiffy employs 130 people in Winsford where it makes bubble film, bubble lined mailers, padded bags, sheet foam, technical foams, and offers a range of converted bubble and foam products.
