Aerospace boost for Surface Transforms

BRAKE manufacturer Surface Transforms has been given a boost after gaining certification to supply the mainstream aerospace market.

The AIM-listed Ellesmere Port-based company designs and manufactures high performance ceramic brakes for sports cars like the Porsche GT3 and is also developing products for the aerospace sector.

It said the certification was as scheduled, as part of its £1.3m a year contract with an unnamed mainstream aerospace provider.

It also said an opportunity had been identified to supply this customer with brakes for helicopters but said that programmes on future generation military contracts take a long time to mature.

“It is also encouraging to also see our customers reconfirmation of the already announced military aircraft contract together with the progress on adoption of our technology on commercial aircraft and helicopter in the longer term.”
