In-house legal awards launched
THE Law Society’s North West regional commercial and industry group has launched its annual North West In-House Legal Awards.
The event, now in its fifth year, is designed to honour the achievements of lawyers working in-house at businesses.
Categories include: In-House Lawyer of the Year; In-House Team of the Year; Young In-House Lawyer of the Year and In-House Deal/Transaction of the Year.
Last year’s winners were Tom Wescott from specialised wireless distributor, Brightstar 20:20, who won In-House Lawyer of the Year, Jennifer Tucker from Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK who was named Young In-House Lawyer of the Year and Odeon Cinema which took home the In-House team of the year accolade.
Manchester-based online fashion retailer boohoo.com, won the In-House Transaction of the Year after its successful AIM-listing.
Law firm Pannone Corporate is sponsoring the awards, which will be announced at a dinner on November 6 at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester.
All proceeds are donated to Cancer Research. Last year the event raised £26,000 for the charity.

Nominations are invited from in-house lawyers or company managers, directors and professionals from private practice and close on October 3. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview later that month.
