Shankly Hotel to create 100 apprenticeships

CITY of Liverpool College has forged a training partnership with Signature Living to provide up to 100 new apprentices for the new Shankly Hotel

The £20m hotel, a joint venture between the legendary manager’s family and Signature Living, plans  to recruit apprentices across a number of departments including event co-ordination, hospitality management, accountancy, graphic design, carpentry, joinery and web design.

The apprentices will be based mainly at the Shankly Hotel but with some working at Signature Living’s 30 James Street hotel.  

Elaine Bowker, principal at the City of Liverpool College said: “The new partnership with the Shankly Hotel will provide unique training and career opportunities for our students and is part of our long term commitment to provide skills for the city’s booming visitor economy.”

She added: “The Liverpool Enterprise Partnership has identified the visitor economy as being one of the key planks for the city’s growth in the coming years.  By partnering with employers like Signature Living we can ensure students have the right skills to support growth.”
