Briggs Equipment cracks on with NW base

MATERIALS handling specialist Briggs Equipment is investing in a new, purpose-built regional facility in Haydock, Merseyside.

The facility will be a hub for both the workshop and field based engineering teams, along with office-based staff in the north.

Briggs Equipment, based in Cannock, says it has designed a facility that not only satisfies its current requirements but will also meet the company’s future needs.

The facility will be located on the new Empress Park estate, near the firm’s existing centre on the Old Boston Trading Estate.

It will incorporate 6,520 sq m of storage space for up to 600 forklift trucks – 300 indoors and 300 outdoors. There is also a 3,822 sq m workshop and loading bays for four HGVs.

The new regional facility will support a team of engineers, office support staff and field-based personnel.

Briggs Equipment managing director Richard Close said: “The construction of our new facility represents an important milestone in development of our business.

“It will deliver operational efficiencies that offer improved service and support for our customers. In particular, the site’s reinforced foundations will enable us to store and prepare higher volumes of big trucks weighing up to 90 tonne.

“This will be a major advantage as we continue to develop our port and freight terminal business.”

The firm plans to close its old regional centre and relocate all personnel to Empress Park.

Construction of the new building is on schedule for completion in the autumn.
